Alice in Wonderland, Caterpillar Costume

Written by ????, directed by Clara Cavins Wolford for Hamline University Theatre's touring children's show, January 2012. Costume design by Melissa Carson. Costume shop managed by MaryBeth Gagner.

The travelling children's show is a touring production. The cast, stage manager, all set, props, and costumes need to fit in one 15-passenger van. The caterpillar costume was made most compact by building fabric cases around beach balls. Additionally, the play has audience participation, this costume was no exception. Part of the costume was attached to the actor's body, while three extra body segments were separate with handles for the children to be the rest of the caterpillar's body.
